Bi Mongol Program

Bi Mongol educational program launched with 13 students in 2 classes which are grass rooted with a quarterly newsletter in 2007. The program aims to present and preserve Mongolian language, culture and history, and to promote fellowships in the diverse community throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

“Bi Mongol” program consists of weekly classes of kindergarten, mongolian language, traditional dance, and contortion taught by local renowned professional artists and teachers.

Kindergarten

The kindergarten class is intended to unlock children’s learning potential and stimulate their curiosity. The curriculum includes the Mongolian alphabet, phonics, tracing letters, memorizing short poems and songs. This level is to prepare them for reading and writing. Mongolian language

In the first-grade Mongolian language class, children will improve their listening and reading skills. The curriculum aims to establish correct pronunciation, reading, and comprehension skills, build vocabulary, learn new songs and poems, and typing in Mongolian. Through interactive learning and fun, children obtain basic knowledge of Mongolian culture. This level is to prepare them for the parts of speech.

In the second grade of Mongolian language class is designed for children to learn the core skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The curriculum includes basic knowledge of parts of speech (singular and plural nouns, pronouns, adjectives, and verbs), reading, comprehension, typing short texts, correction of accents, more vocabulary, songs and poems. Through interactive learning and fun, children obtain basic knowledge of Mongolian culture and history. This level will prepare children for the study of sentence structure.

Traditional dance

Dance class offers Mongolian folk-dance movements, the origin and meaning of the dances, how to dance traditional dances, stage presence, and performance guidelines on the stage etc. After 5 years students are able to dance traditional dances solo or in a group and therefore officially graduate.

Mongolian traditional dances not only express the distinct ethnic identities and promoting family unity and mutual understanding among different Mongolian ethnic groups, but they also show the daily routine of nomadic lifestyle, imitating the movement and manner of deities, mystical creatures, and legendary heroes and the grace & beauty of Mongolian women through smooth and elegant movements of their arms.

Contortion

Contortion class will offer kids a unique opportunity to develop both flexibility and teamwork skills. They will engage in exercises designed to enhance their flexibility, which will be contributing to their overall health and physical well-being. The curriculum includes foundational skills such as handstands and splits, along with a variety of Mongolian traditional contortion techniques. This combination of learning and practice will help them grow stronger, more agile, and capable of impressive feats of flexibility while fostering a spirit of collaboration and support within the group.
